Does your website get lots of visitors but few conversions? Maybe your website needs better content. Read on for our tips on how to improve your Website Content.
- New and Fresh Content
Adding new content to your website can work well for you in a number of ways. Firstly, visitors will come back to read more once they realise that you regularly update the content. You've hear the saying "Content is king"? Well it is, so provide lots of worthwhile and free information. - Good Layout
Make sure your web pages have a clear and neat layout. A web page with the proper layout will look professional and therefore keep visitors, whereas if it is messy and confusing, they will move on quickly. Also, remember to put the most important information on the top of your web pages.
- Links
Visitors like to find more relevant information on what they are reading. Provide lots of links to relevant websites but be careful not to turn your website into a directory! Try to have one page with most links and the odd relevant link in your text content. Another thing to remember is to regularly check and make sure all links work.
- Examples of your Business or Services
Visitors like to see examples and testimonials. If you can get testimonials or can show examples of how your services or products have worked for other customers, then add these to your website.
- Images
Images are a very important part of completing the look and feel of a website. Make sure to keep your images professional and relevant. It is also important that you don’t fill your website with too many images resulting in slow loading pages. If you are selling something that has a visual representation then professional looking images is key. Click here to read more on how to add images to your website.
- Clearly written text content
When writing text content, there are a number of things to keep in mind – font, layout, colour, headings etc. Other things to remember are things like not letting your pages scroll down endlessly but make sure to break them up. Also try not to put your text in one big block but try to separate it into paragraphs. Click here to read more on how to format text content on a website.
- Archive
If you regularly add new content to your website, such as News items, make sure to archive information but keep it somewhere on your website.
- Try to Engage your Visitors.
At the end of each web page, try to provide a hook to keep visitors on your website. Give them a path to follow to draw them further through your web pages. An example may be a link reading something like 'Other Articles on this subject'
