Have you got Olympic fever, or perhaps you're over the coverage already?

The Olympics are of course much more than a sporting event as the Chinese hosts are very well aware. The country has used the Olympics as a key step to moving into the future and renewing itself. Although their renewal efforts may be over zealous for our tastes, many of us are admiring the Olympics ability to inspire renewal.

The Olympic renewal is not only in the shape of external structures. An equally large renewal has taken place in the Chinese use of online technology to conduct their business processes. A quick look at the official Beijing Olympic website will illustrate the sophistication of the Chinese use of online technologies to bring the games to the billions around the world.
This technology renewal is quiet frankly astounding, something that we should reflect on intensely, particularly when you consider that Chinese websites and systems are now a very close second in number to English language websites on the Internet. If you consider the business and social processes being conducted over these web-systems you've got to feel at least a slight sense of urgency about your way of doing what you and your organisation do.
