YouTube has established itself at the top of the league of the new generation of community websites. It now hosts millions of videos and in the same way that Google has become the leading search engine, YouTube has become synonymous with video online. Many organisations are seeing an opportunity to get more exposure for their products or services by uploading videos about their business. In order to get the best exposure and high viewing statistics, it is important to consider various options when uploading your video. Here are some tips we have come up with that should help get your video ranking higer in YouTube and therefore getting more people viewing it.
TitleCreate an accurate and descriptive title that is unique and contains complete sentences. When users search for a video, they will find yours easier if you include a descriptive but catchy title. An engaging title can also help your video stand apart from the rest of the crowd. Also, if possible be sure to include the keywords you are targeting in the actual title but avoid keyword stuffing eg “cars, motor cars, sports car, vintage car, car”
DescriptionMake your description catchy, clear and specific. Use complete sentences and if possible include the keywords you are targeting but be careful to avoid keywords stuffing eg “cars, motor cars, sports car, vintage car, car”
Keyword Tags Tags are keywords that describe videos. For example, a kayaking video might be tagged with "kayaking," "water," and "kayak." Users who enjoy watching kayaking videos can then search for any of those terms and that video will show up in their search results. Tags help you label videos you upload so that other people can find them more easily. Provide accurate tags that include keywords that users may use when they search or browse videos. Add 5 or more tags relating to your keywords.
Category
Choose the correct Category. The category into which you place your video is part of its description as well. People are more likely to rate your video highly and watch it more frequently if it's placed in a relevant category.
Links and YouTube Embedding
YouTube takes into account links from reputable websites that point to your video and will improve ranking for a video with lots of good links. Use web sites that are ranking well in Google and point to your video. This will help improve your videos ranking. Similarly, YouTube also takes into account reputable websites that embed your video.
