Google Street View Google Street View was launched in Australia this week.

Street View is a feature of Google Earth and Maps that provides 360 degree street-level photographic views. The service was launched in the US in May 2007 and Australia is the third country to enjoy the free Google service, behind the US and France.

How does Street View work?

The views are taken by a fleet of cars fitted with cameras that drive across the country, capturing images.  To alleviate privacy concerns, images are not realtime and Google blurs faces and car registrations. Google also claims that photos taken are on average of about eight months old. However, there is an easy form to fill out that will let you notify Google if you want an image removed of blurred.
