Why does Search Engine Optimisation(SEO) Prices vary so much?

Have you been thinking of getting some SEO done on your website? Have you had a look around and found that SEO prices vary greatly? Well, apart from the obvious being that some people will try to rip you off, there are valid reasons why SEO prices can vary so much.

Firstly, when we say SEO, we are including two types – Organic SEO and Pay Per Click (PPC) Advertising.

Pay Per Click Advertising

With PPC Advertising Campaigns, a website will appear in the ‘Sponsored Links’ section on the top of, or to the right of the search results page. With PPC, the price is very hard to pin down, as it will really depend on your budget. If your keywords are very competitive such as ‘hotel’, then you will have to pay premium rates to get a good position. If you have a low budget for PPC advertising, then that’s ok but be aware that your keywords will appear less regularly and in less attractive page positioning. So, with PPC Advertising or PPC SEO, yes the SEO prices really do vary a lot.

Organic SEO

The other type of SEO we refer to is Organic or Natural SEO. Organic Search Engine Optimisation improves the position in which a website appears in the natural search engine results rather than the Sponsored Links section.
The reason the SEO Prices can range with organic SEO is dependant on how much is required for the optimisation. There are many options that have to be considered:-

  • How many keywords required ?
  • How many pages to be optimised ?
  • How many new incoming links to obtain for the website?
  • How many new incoming links to obtain for each web page ?
  • Is Organic SEO to be done as a once off or on an ongoing basis?
  • Is the website content to be optimised – often clients will prefer to change their own content and will only need advice on things to consider when doing this ?
  • Will there be articles written as part of the SEO campaign?
  • Will there be a new links page created to request links required?
  • Will there be Search Engine sitemaps required ?
  • Are there changes to be made to the website to make it more Search Engine friendly ?
